iTunes Updates Podcast Categories
iTunes updated its Podcast categories with their recent update (iTunes 6.0.5). I, personally, like the new sets of categories. They seem better organized and more appropriate for the list of podcasts in iTunes Music Store.

I don’t like the way they changed the interface. No longer can you see the top 100 for each of the main categories. Before you could switch to the top 100 tech (or whatever), and it doesn’t look like they have that feature in place now…
So, if you aren’t featured or in the Top 100, you are out of luck.
Hope the fix this.

This change in categories is causing some problems on podcast hosting sites as well. I’m on CyberEars.com (www.cyberears.com) and their categorization mimics the iTunes categorization, but others do not.

Well, the new category areas are up now, and so far so good. It looks good, and actually I think I prefer it now. When they were making the changes, there was no way to see rankings for different categories.. and now there is, in fact they are even more granular.. than just ‘tech’, etc… they break it down into each category.

I don’t understand why “Travel” was taken out. Destinations don’t really fit under “Sports” and it seems crazy to lose such a big category.
Bring “Travel” Back please!!!
