Thanks for reminding me of that Seybold conference Andy. Even though Steve Jobs wasn't the uber-demagogue he is today, the guy still had a pretty imposing persona back then. You definitely had a pair of brass ones to go up to him with that question. Best of luck to you bro. Greetings from the other side ;)

One request: I'd like to be able to generate a web page (from a template) listing the Podcast episodes (and descriptions) as part of the Publish process. That would go a long way, for me, in making Podcast Maker a viable replacement for iWeb.

Thanks for the post and the replies. I've been waiting for iLife '06 to be delivered on my new Macbook, but now it7s clear that PCM is the way to go.

great post. i got iLife '06 a few weeks ago and never even considered that Podcast Maker might be superfluous. it's a simple, highly functional piece of software and I'm glad I use it and support it.

rawk on potionfactory. rawk awn.

I know I've said enough in emails already Andy, but I'm saying it again as a comment, because I'd like to see what others think... 1st, I love your software, it makes my life simple while simultaneously making me look very professional.... and 2nd, Please consider bringing the Live-Radio style recording simplicity of CastBlaster to the Mac! GarageBand is too bulky, I don't care how nice it is now. It doesn't make my kind of podcasting any easier. I'd like to stop using the kludge of Audio HiJack Pro, and audio player apps, and just use Podcast Maker for the whole process. It's a dream of mine... I'm pleading with you!

You guys are awesome!

When I watched the MacWorld Keynote, I went straight online to buy Garageband. Still waiting for UPS to deliever the package and will have my middle school "classroom hackers" evaluate it soon. The new features of Garageband should be a help. However, I still want more features in the recording software. I want to see "gauges" so we can monitor the recording levels real-time. We are looking at purchasing a mixer and a Eridol digital recorder. However, before my students get too carried away with all the software and hardware, we are going to spend some time planning and researching the content of what they podcast. We are going to discuss topics like voice, audience, digital storytelling, and the basics.

Thank god for Apple's super mouse! Podcast Maker rocks and I will continue to use it. I think I am going to wait a bit on iLife 6 to let Apple get the bugs out.

I agree on your view of Podcast Maker's focus.

Apple does a really good job of taking previously complex things and making them accessible to everyone. The tradeoff, however, is less customizability and control. For beginners that's OK.

Some software developers offer that customizability and control, but with the tradeoff of usability and user friendliness. It takes lots of effort to build in easy-of-use. Few succeed with that.

What makes Podcast Maker great is that it's approachable by the beginner but still has features for more advanced users. It "hides the power" until a feature is needed. I look forward to more easy-of-use customizability and control of Podcasts in future versions of Podcast Maker.

Keep on going guys! :-)

You guys make me look good. I added some of the chapters, and to my suprise the listeners really enjoyed them. Everything on my end was so simple. I exported my mpeg from Digital Performer because of the plugins. Thanks for keeping everything easy to use. Now if I can get my website to work.

BTW The day of the $50 iBook sale I was ready to go down there, cause I knew that this was a steal, but something told me to stay home. Since I already own several Macs, I was suprised that the city was selling them so low. Oh well, we still have some schools using them in the better counties.
